Charles Cameron

  • Charles has advised public and private company boards and entrepreneurs for over 30 years at CBHH and previously as a director at Goldman Sachs, Jefferies and Kleinwort Benson, working in London, New York and Tokyo.  From 2002 to 2005 he was CEO of InTechnology plc, the quoted provider of cloud-based and on-site data storage solutions; in 2008 he co-founded Encore Ventures, which acquired and managed a portfolio of private equity interests from 3i; and within CBHH he sits on the Investment Committee of the Digital Infrastructure Investment Partnership.

Dr. Steven Fawkes

  • In addition to being a partner at CBHH Steve is founder and Managing Partner of ep Group which provides consultancy, design and asset management services to support the energy transition. Steve has over 30 years experience in energy efficiency, energy services and finance. He has been an NED for private and public companies and sat on the Investment Committee of the London Energy Efficiency Fund. He has published extensively on energy and sustainable finance and received awards from the Energy Institute, the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy and the India Business Group.

Michael Herbst

  • Prior to CBHH, Michael was responsible for building and leading the European Telecommunications business at Jefferies International in London. He started his career at Kleinwort Benson in London, and then moved to UBS Investment Bank in 1999, where he was most recently Managing Director in the EMEA TMT team. He has lived in London since 1995 and has a global network of high-level contacts.

    Education: Michael holds a B.A. in Business Administration from ESB Reutlingen and an M.Sc. in Finance from the London School of Economics.

    He is fluent in German, English, French, Italian and speaks some Korean, Greek and Spanish.

Marc-Olaf Hilgenfeldt

  • Marc-Olaf brings 20 years of investment banking experience with a particular focus on the European TMT market. He led Jefferies International’s TMT activities in German-speaking countries and was part of the EMEA TMT team at UBS Investment Bank in London. He started his career at Kuna & Co (now part of Evercore).

    Education: Marc-Olaf holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the European Business School (EBS), Germany and an MBA from Georgia State University, USA. He is fluent in German and English.

Alexander Hofmann

  • Alex has more than 30 years of experience in global TMT investment banking. Before joining CBHH in late summer 2021, Alex spent 15 years at Jefferies, where he was Head of Investment Banking from 2015 and Chairman of the Management Board for Continental Europe from 2018. Prior to joining Jefferies, he spent 12 years at Credit Suisse First Boston in London, where he was Head of European Technology M&A.

    Alex is qualified to practice law in Germany and speaks English (native), German (fluent) and French.

Peter Norris

  • Peter is an international investment banker who has advised corporates, private equity, governments and charities across a range of complex transactions.

    His early career was with Kleinwort Benson and HSBC Investment Bank and he later became Head of European M&A at Bank of America.

    Peter has advised on IPOs and other public and private financings, privatisations, and a variety of buy and sell side mandates.

Brian Roberston

  • Brian has over 30 years of investment banking experience, having worked in the City since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1985.

    For much of that time, he has specialised in the communications sector, working in financing and M&A in all the major development phases of the industry: including cable TV, Mobile communications, fixed-line liberalisation and, more recently, FTTH rollout, where he has helped raise finance for a series of UK operators.

    Brian is also actively involved in CBHH's investment management activities and is Chairman of Wightfibre Limited.

David Scribner

  • David has more than 10 years of investment banking experience with a significant advisory and financing track record across the digital and energy transition sectors.  He has been with CBHH since 2021.

    Prior to joining CBHH, David worked for large multinational firms including Morgan Stanley, CIBC and Irving Oil with a focus on the energy sector.

    He has advised listed and private corporations, private equity funds, institutional investors and governments across a range of complex transactions.

    David is a CFA Charterholder.

Tim Stocks

  • Tim qualified as a solicitor in 1983. He worked as a lawyer in both England & Wales and Hong Kong and became Head of Corporate Finance at international law firm Taylor Wessing LLP. In 2015, He founded and was CEO of corporate finance advisory firm, James Stocks & Co. which focused on real estate and infrastructure sectors. The firm was successfully sold in 2020.

    Tim’s extensive transaction experience includes fund raisings, restructurings, M&A and public issuance whilst acting for clients including European Sovereigns, companies, special purpose funding vehicles and institutions. Published works include: Corporate Finance Law and Practice, Securities Legislation in Hong Kong, plus articles for newspapers and journals on all aspects of the financial services industry.

Tom Strickland

  • Tom is an investment banker with a track record of advisory and financing experience across the energy transition, digital infrastructure and transport sectors.

    Tom advises clients on capital raises and M&A transactions, with specialist knowledge in renewable energy generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, fibre broadband, and transport and logistics.

    Previously at PwC, Tom is a CFA Charterholder and has a PhD in infrastructure funding models from Newcastle University.

Mark Vargo

  • Mark J. Vargo is a recognized business leader with 30+ years of experience in scaling, optimizing and transforming the commercial and operational activities of large and small high technology companies. His executive experience spans hardware, software and services businesses in Europe and North America, including leadership roles at EMC, IBM and Akamai.

    As a Strategic Adviser within CBHH, Mark brings an additional commercial focus to support CBHH’s clients in optimising their performance and strengthening their commercial processes when approaching a liquidity event and when raising capital. This is particularly the case in the context of digital infrastructure and services companies. Mark is based in London and serves as a non-executive director on a number of technology-centric companies.

Thies Arndt

  • Thies started his career at Hamburg Commercial Bank where he gained his first experience in mergers & acquisitions.

    Before joining CBHH in 2021, Thies was part of the Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Services team of PwC in Frankfurt am Main. There, he advised, among others, companies on the preparation of financial statements as well as the issuance of bonds and supported the audit teams in special IFRS topics.

    Thies’ education: Thies holds an M.Sc. in Money and Finance from Goethe University Frankfurt am Main as well as Bachelor’s degrees in economics (B.Sc.) and Business Administration (B.A.) from Leuphana University Lüneburg

    He complemented his studies with stays abroad at Eastern Illinois University, USA and the Universiteit van Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Thies is fluent in German and English.

Matthias Brück

  • Matthias joined CBHH in 2024. He previously gained professional experience in Luxembourg, including roles at KPMG and Deutsche Bank. He started his career in investment banking at Deutsche Cleantech (D.CT) in Frankfurt, where he focused on international renewable energy transactions.

    Matthias earned a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Hohenheim where he majored in Finance. He is fluent in German and English.

  • Prior to joining CBHH, Eleanor was a Director in the Energy team of Citigroup’s Investment Banking Division.  Before that, Eleanor spent 5 years at Goldman Sachs in its equity research and investment banking divisions.

    Eleanor joined Cameron Barney in 2016 as part of their Women Returners program following time-out from the industry to focus on her young family.

Julian Feulner

  • Before joining CBHH at the beginning of 2019, Julian was a member of the automotive sector team at Clearwater International. There, he gained experience advising companies and financial investors on various national and international transactions. Julian started his career in investment banking at UBS Investment Bank in the Corporate Advisory Group (CAG) in Frankfurt.

    Julian’s education: He studied International Finance (B.Sc.) at the European School of Finance (ESF) of HfWU as well as at Montana State University Billings in the USA. He is fluent in German and English.

  • James joined the CBHH team from Lazard’s financial advisory practice, where he focused on deals in the Energy Transition sector.

    Prior to CBHH and Lazard James spent 6 years at PwC, the final 3 years of which were within the Corporate Finance practice advising on deals in the Digital Infrastructure and Energy Transition sectors.

    James is an ICAEW chartered accountant and holds a BSc in Economics from Lancaster University.

  • Stefanie joined CBHH in August 2024. She runs our office management as well as HR administration in Frankfurt and supports our Managing Partners.

    Working at Jefferies for many years, Stefanie has gained extensive admin experience in investment banking and was office manager of an executive search firm specializing in the financial services sector prior before joining CBHH.

Sam Keanly

  • Sam joined CBHH in 2018 and has over 6 years financing and M&A experience, primarily in the digital infrastructure sector but with an increasing focus on renewables infrastructure in recent years. Prior to joining CBHH, Sam interned at PKF Francis Clark and Porta Wealth Management.

    He holds a BSc in Mathematics with Finance from the University of Exeter and a Masters in Finance from UCL.

Tristan Pahl

  • Tristan started his career in the Real Assets team at Isio, an independent investment advisor to UK institutional clients. He then moved to mergers and acquisitions at Cowen, working on German mid-market transactions in the technology, healthcare and industrials sectors, before joining CBHH in 2024.

    Tristan is a graduate of Durham University, where he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics and was active in the Finance Society and Debating Club. He also completed a placement at Accenture, where he assisted European banks with regulatory implementation. He holds the Investment Management Certificate and is pursuing the CFA charter. 

    He speaks fluent German and English.
