CBHH advises Aegis Energy in securing £100m from Quinbrook to develop the UK’s first clean multi-energy recharging and refuelling network for commercial vehicles

January 2025

Cameron Barney Herbst Hilgenfeldt (‘CBHH’) is pleased to announce that it acted as exclusive financial advisor to Aegis Energy Ltd (‘Aegis’) in securing an investment of £100m from Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners (‘Quinbrook’). This financing will kick off construction of an initial five-station network to be completed by the end of 2027.

Aegis develops and operates hubs that will meet the needs of all truck and van operators transitioning to cleaner fuels, including electric, hydrogen, bio-CNG and HVO. By building first-of-its-kind public infrastructure, Aegis will deliver an essential missing piece that will enable the next wave of low and zero-emission trucks and vans to hit UK roads and help drive forward the clean energy transition.

An initial five-station network will be completed by the end of 2027, with stations planned in Sheffield, Immingham, Warrington, Corby and Towcester. Aegis Energy has secured sizeable grid connections for its sites and will begin construction on the first of these stations in 2025, which are scheduled to open in 2026. Aegis Energy plans to create a broader network of up to 30 hubs by the end of the decade, becoming a leader in low carbon infrastructure and e-mobility.

CBHH provided unwavering strategic advice, guidance and support to secure this financing from Quinbrook which is a significant milestone for our business. Partnering with Quinbrook accelerates our development of a market-leading infrastructure platform to decarbonise trucks and vans across the UK. Ambitious targets from fleets, OEMs and policymakers are hastening the energy transition for commercial vehicles, driving considerable growth in the demand for infrastructure.
— Michael Shaw, Founder & CEO, Aegis

CBHH has worked closely with Aegis over an extended period of time leading up to this significant financing commitment. This has included acting as exclusive financial adviser to Aegis in securing investment from Quinbrook and arranging two rounds of private investment from a network of supportive high-net-worth individuals.

We are very pleased to have secured £100m of funding for Aegis to roll out clean recharging and refuelling stations across the UK. Aegis is on the forefront of a major transition of commercial vehicles moving away from diesel and Quinbrook is the ideal investor, having shared objectives. With Aegis’s dynamic management team and Quinbrook’s support, we expect this business to thrive long into the future.
